Oilatum Emollient 250ml

 Oilatum Emollient is effective for dry dermatoses, it soothes, moisturizes and conditions the skin, at the same time cleansing it. Because it is used in the bath, it is the ideal choice for all-over treatment.

Oilatum contains a carefully balanced formulation with a very low potential for sensitizing or irritant reactions, and is suitable even for babies.

Many patients with generalized itch have a darkish, slightly scaly skin due partly to ageing itself and partly to environmental factors such as low relative humidity. This group of patients does well with emollients. Younger patients such as the atopic child have a very dry skin – liberal use of emollients will control this.

Many inflammatory disorders are associated with dry skin and the control of this with simple non-steroidal preparations will frequently improve pruritus and cut down dramatically on the quantity of topical steroid required.

The steroid sparing effect of Oilatum emollient is an important factor both economically and clinically.

Oilatum emollient considerably reduces the need for topical steroids.

Use frequently, at least once and preferably twice a day. Regular washing helps to remove “crusts” and reduces the risk of infection.

•  To treat babies. Add ½ - 1 capful of Oilatum to a baby bath or basin of warm (not too hot) water, and apply gently over the whole body with with a sponge. Pat dry gently with a soft towel. Avoid rubbing as this will remove the Oilatum from the surface of the skin.
   

• For older children. Add 1-2 capfuls of Oilatum to an 8 inch bath. Soak for 10-20 minutes. Pat dry gently (do not rub). Take care to avoid slipping in the bath.
   

• For Adult Bath, Add 3-4 capfuls of Oilatum Emollient to 20cm bath of water. Soak for 10-20 minutes, then gently pat the skin dry.
   

• Skin Cleansing, Have a bath the normal way, while skin is wet, rub a small amount of Oilatum Emollient into wet skin. Rinse with water and pat the skin dry.

Oilatum is effective in the treatment of eczema and related dry skin conditions and is for external use only. If a rash or irritation develops, stop using the product and consult your doctor. If with regular use of Oilatum products the eczema does not improve, consult your doctor.
